Micheal Head - A Black Bird Singing

 

Micheal Head’s “A Black Bird Singing” is a beautiful piece from the song cycle “Over the Rim of the Moon” (1918). The words in this piece are by the poet Francis Ledwidge, who served in WWI and died in action in1917. This piece is about escapism and serenity, something that Ledwidge longed for and reflected in his poetry.
