About Me
Energetic, welcoming and always caffeinated best describe Bachelor of Music candidate, Philomena Hoger. Her ever-expanding career launched in 2019, when she had the opportunity to represent Australia at Villers Bretonneux France, for the ANZAC Day Memorial Service, with The Voices of Birralee. The values displayed within this professional, Brisbane/Meeajin based choir, lead her to volunteer to teach piano to immigrant families new to the Moreton bay region in 2020-2021. With a passion for teaching sparked, Philomena travelled to Italy, where she taught both Music and English at Convitto Nazionale Paulo Diacono, Udine in 2023. Her biggest goal is to sing for notable opera companies in Australia like Opera Australia, and internationally like The Metropolitan Opera in New York. As she hones her skills under the teachings of esteemed vocal coach and Opera Queensland vocalist, Rachel Ireni Utely, she will continue to teach privately, bringing the joys of classical vocal music to the students of tomorrow. When not in a practice room, on stage or in a teaching studio, you will find Philomena indulging in her love for latte art (and caffeine) as she immerses herself within her community, woking as a barista for her local RSL.
